Author Interview

Gerald Schoenewolf, Ph.D. is a licensed psychoanalyst who has been practicing in New York for over 45 years.  During that time he has offered numerous presentations at conferences and published many papers in professional journals, including "The Myth of Sexual Abuse."  Other papers contained noted original theories on the death trauma, gender narcissism and autism.  In The Mass Killer: Six Case Histories That Tell Us Why, he directs his psycho- analytic knowledge and research to an examination of the how and why of mass killings, exploring the psychology and social psychology of six notorious cases.

   Dr. Schoenewolf has authored over 30 books, including some bestselling titles on psychology such as 101 Common Therapeutic Blunders, Jennifer and Her Selves and The Art of Hating.  He has also written over 20 screenplays, a few of which won awards at film festivals, and wrote, directed and produced two of his own films, Therapy (2005) and Brooklyn Nights (2009).  He has long had a keen interest in Eastern philosophy and translated two ancient Buddhist and Daoist classics.  He now lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with his wife, Julia, two cats named Minnie and Max, and a parrot named Lucky.
